Let the Hype begin. As has been widely reported, the title of the seventh, and final, Harry Potter book has been released, “Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows.” I didn’t start reading the series until it well under way, and I was well past the target demographic. I read the first four books, and ever since have bought each new release and read it on its release day.

One of the wonderful things about novels is their ability to present not just a story but a world. Quite often, when the story is over, I still want to keep reading about that world. I think this is the draw that the Harry Potter series has for me, I can come back periodically. This is also why I don’t mind when the book’s page count threatens to outrun the attention span of those kids who are the target demographic.

I have been less a fan of the movies that have corresponded with the books, though I have seen them all. The next movie adaptation, “Harry Potter and the Order of Phoenix” will be out in the summer (alas, likely before the seventh book), and the trailer is online.

That’s right, a Simpsons Movie is not in production.  Such a beast has long been rumored, but has now been confirmed.  This show has been an enormous cultural influence; and, given that it had ten million viewers last season, it is still going strong after 16 seasons.  My mother still will not let me watch the Simsons (but I do anyway) reflecting a once-popular view that the show promoted questionable values, even though it is now commonly considered to be the most religious show in television(1, 2, 3).
My favorite episode has to be “Tales from the Public Domain” or maybe its when bart becomes a faith healer, or maybe when Homer gets smart, or…
Random Pole:  which character do you identify with?

If I have not shared this with you, you have missed out.  Lucas Brunelle Makes movies of Ally-Cat races by strapping a camera to his helmet and racing himself.  High speed cycling through thick traffic, many laws are broken - it is not advisable to ride like this.  Still, the videos are a blast to watch.

I just watched a new trailer for the upcoming movie “The Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy.” If you know what I am talking about, you are already excited and are not reading this anymore, but have already clicked on the link below. If you are still reading, stop and click on the link below. I mean it. Now.Amazon.com: Welcome

I just finished watching the trailer for the upcoming movie “kingdom of heaven. Given the world climate right now I am less than excited about Americans producing a movie about the Knights Templar, to whatever extent that the movie may or may not be based on history. No matter how we slice it, the Crusades are a touchy subject, and certainly not something the west should be glorifying. I am disturbed.

The other two films were, in my humble opinion, better in Extended Edition, I expect this one will be also.
